Greenhouse Construction Costs.

Some costs for the construction of the greenhouse are as follows.

  This cost is not fully complete as some structural strengthening will need to be done based the semi-collapse which occured due to heavy wet snow on Friday March 2nd.  I will also need to add some guttering to the hoophouse to capture and channel rainfall for re-use in watering plants in the hoophouse.  On the other hand this cost is much higher than it need be if one was content to do without the paint, and especially the frost wall, which would not be needed in a slightly warmer climate.  I estimate that eliminating these costs would save about $250.  Also, most if not all of the frame could be constructed using pieces of free galvanized pipe and fittings scrounged from a chain link fence.  This can sometimes be had free for the taking if you are willing to do the demolition labor.

Josh and I decided to can our own ham and bean soup one cold Sunday when we had some left over ham. It turned out great! Here is the recipe we used. We also used a pressure cooker to do this recipe as well. This is a great way to prepare food because now you will have bean soup any time you want it. DIY: Pacifier Clip

DIY: Pacifier Clip  So for the last 4 months I have been kicking myself for buying a pacifier clip for Jack. Especially after I got mine in the mail. It is made of approx. $1 worth of material, and I paid $8  for a really cute one. I felt taken and just a little envious of the company I bought from for being able to convince someone like me to hand them 800% profit on an item. Sigh.... So I decided to do something about it. I examined my pacifier clip I purchased and designed the following tutorial.  1. Gather the following materials:  Scissors Sewing Machine 6in of 1/8in wide braided elastic 10-12 inches of ribbon ( I recommend 100% polyester) 1 Suspender clip (usually come in packages of 2, approx. $2 a package)  2. What to do with too many tomatoes

 My first reaction upon seeing the above sight, was "Joshua Martin Brueggen, What the f&%k am I going to do with all of these tomatoes!?" (The kids were asleep...) They were three and four tomatoes deep near the middle of the table.  Plus this actual picture is missing the tomatoes I used to make 11 pints of the salsa below! I was overwhelmed, not just whelmed. The idea of processing these tomatoes, and in a timely fashion, made my head spin. I may have the patience of a saint (I am a teacher after all), but I have the attention span of a five year old. The twelve pounds I used to make salsa took me up to 8 hours start to finish to process. I cried and swore I would let these tomatoes rot rather than spend hours over the stove and sink peeling each frickin tomato. Oh and that I would never go hungry again, as I took a juicy bite.
